I am not going to teach you how to build a website here, but how to get organised and ready for it – because, in my own experience, having to fiddle with the various bits when the build has already started is very time consuming and frustrating. If you are well prepared and organised the rest will be a walk in the park.
Prepare a folder on your desktop with your project name and drop everything you need for your website in there.
Find the fonts you like and that go best together.
Same rule as for fonts: don't use too many colours. Here is a great guide and some great tools:
Make sure you prepare your images properly for web before uploading them to your website. This is super important for your site's speed, which is super important for user experience and ultimately for your success.
Be crystal clear on your offering. Check your offer: Do you tell your visitor how you work? Is it clear what benefits they will get through working with you/buying your products? Does your website lead them to the solution of their problem?
If you don't already have them create them (depending on where your ideal clients hang out):
Track your site's search performance with Google Search Console and browse around for more webmaster resources.
i.e. G-suite: Swap @gmail.com with your own domain to create professional email addresses like yourname@example.com or sales@example.com.
Your email marketing automisation platform to create and manage mailing lists, newsletters, automated marketing campaigns and more.
Whether you will build your website yourself or hand it over to a professional so you can focus on what you really love doing instead, this preparation is essential. Do it well and you are on the way to success! Have fun! If you need any help don’t hesitate to get in touch with me.
